People who read college admissions essays: is there one that’s always stuck with you? What made you remember it?

The intro was amazing! The prompt was something like “what did you find that you’re passionate about” or some other normal, bland question. Someone’s essay began:

I first got involved in politics the day the cafeteria banned creamed corn.

I’m here to tell you: that’s a hell of an introductory sentence. I don’t read every word of every essay, but that essay got read.
