° Teaching boys and girls together on periods : Girls and boys should learn about menstruation together. Instructing boys and girls separately can spread stigma and mystery. Boys develop a sense of empathy and can understand the sensitivity of the topic “periods.”
° Provide support wherever possible : Boys can provide support at home or school when a girl faces her first period or has an embarrassing or difficult experience. This lessens the stress on her. Buying or carrying sanitary products for menstruators around you can be very helpful.
° Take action : As a community member who can challenge policies, beliefs, taboos, social norms, pressure, and stigma surrounding periods give men the power to influence society. Men Can supports programmes developed for improving the menstrual hygiene context for the menstruators.
But foremost, talking openly and sharing that you are on your period with the men around you is very important. Be it fathers, brothers, teachers, relatives, or friends.. everyone should be a part of your period conversation. It’s crucial for them to equally support and help you in this period, as you would expect from your mother, sister, or teacher.
