How do you consider someone as kleptomaniac? Do they have a habit to lie to gain money? Do they still money from their own family and friends?

this person i know have this habit of lying and stealing since she was a kid. she would steal money, things even from her family and friends. Sometimes, these things/money that she stole, she will use it to gain approval to other people/friends. The most recent one she did was to lie about her situation just to beg money from us. She had a pretty unpleasant childhood, which makes me think had an impact on her character? But we think she may be klepto since this has been going for years since she was a kid…
