I lost all my school notes this morning after my boards disappeared. Despite iCloud being on, my boards were not syncing across my devices. I toggled it off and back on and it “merged” my boards locally with iCloud and all my existing ones disappeared. There appears to be no way to get them back.
A few google searches brought up dozens of threads on Apple support forums with the same problem, with everyone effectively losing all their boards.
