Apple keep adding more neural engine cores, but for what application on our devices at this moment?

I was trying to understand the NPC and what use it has since the keynotes keep emphasising how more amazing they become each iteration. Does anyone knows what it is currently most used for or is this like the LiDAR sensors: useful only for very specific needs but most people don’t use it (fully)?
