I am officially diagnosed, but I knew before that I very likely had depression based on the symptoms I was experiencing. My symptoms were:

loss of motivation for pretty much everything

neglecting personal hygiene (showering/brushing teeth)

feeling a lot of sadness and emptiness – crying a lot as a result

difficulties getting out of bed or doing anything
-
lots of negative repetitive thoughts
-
low self worth
-
loss of enjoyment for things I used to enjoy
-
quickly getting overwhelmed in social situations
-
isolating myself
-
thinking about not wanting to exist or wanting to be dead (note: I was never actively suicidal)
