Women’s Network at work renamed People’s Network

I hope this is the right place to ask this. I can’t really think of anywhere else on Reddit to post it.

As the title suggests my workplace has recently renamed the women’s network to the people’s network. Now the women’s network was always, from day one, meant to be inclusive. And it has been.

Now I’m questioning the cause of the change within the company, my gut says someone complained it wasn’t “inclusive” without doing any research. But I can’t say that for certain yet.

I was just hoping for peoples opinions on whether this feels right to them? And if possible whether this actually violates anything policy-wise (in the UK).

EDIT: I’d like to point out I don’t think this is about including trans women etc. I whole heartedly believe everyone matters, I believe it was changed because the men in the office didn’t like being excluded.
