Why is changing the display refresh rate so difficult??

why-is-changing-the-display-refresh-rate-so-difficult??

Changing the refresh rate for an external display is so g*dd*mn difficult… literally have to hold down the ‘option’ key to bring up some kind of ‘hidden menu’. And half the time it doesn’t even work!!!

Apple–why do y’all do this?? What is the point of this hidden menu that has to be activated by holding down some key–and it doesn’t even work half the time!! It just seems like a really silly UX decision… super unintuitive. What could possibly be the logic behind building a hidden menu that is only visible while holding down some random key? Is this another example of Apple hating on power users and treating their users like children? I mean really… the only reason I can think of is aesthetic, they must not want the preferences window to be too cluttered. If this is the actual reason, lord help us…

This is what I’m talking about: https://www.makeuseof.com/change-display-refresh-rate-mac/ This sh*t only works about half the time, the other half, the refresh rate doesn’t even get displayed after holding down ‘option’
