Some of the comments on a recent post in the relationships sub are honestly disgusting. Just because your wife or girlfriend is temporarily out of a job, doesn’t mean she’s your maid or your mom! It doesn’t give men an excuse to act like a toddler and leave messes everywhere! I understand doing most of the household chores when you’re out of work, but you shouldn’t have to clean up every single mess a literal adult is making. I would never make my SO clean up after my own messes, regardless of if they’re working! Why don’t some men understand basic responsibility and human decency!
I had to deal with this while living with my ex, I wasn’t working but I was in college FULL TIME and contributing with whatever savings I had. He thought just because I wasn’t working- during the beginning of the pandemic when there weren’t jobs- that I should’ve been his literal maid (I was also waiting for a job I got offered, but had to wait for because the store wasn’t even open yet! It was mid-pandemic for Christ’s sake! ). I was literally in school and contributing what I had- but somehow that made me a gold digger and made every mess everyone made into my responsibility. The comments some people make about women who are in similar situations are just awful.
