I have a friend who I see every other week or so. She’s super pretty, and her hair is absolutely stunning. It’s thick and heavy and long, and she puts it in these beautiful braids and such. It always looks like it’s in a shampoo commercial. We’re not super close, but we’re friends.
I’m insecure af about my thin hair that’s weirdly wavy/curly and never wants to sit right. A few months ago my friend group was talking about how pretty thick hair is and how we wish we could all have lovely hair like that, and my friend piped up. She said, “I think thin hair is beautiful. It looks lightweight and lovely.”
Even though she wasn’t complimenting MY hair, just my type of hair, it meant the world to me. It’s lived rent-free in my head since then. Love a woman who appreciates beauty that’s different from hers – especially when it comes to appreciating less traditional beauty.
