Stage Manager is a buggy pool of suckage that makes windows management harder than it should

Damn. Stage Manager was the feature that made me interest in Ventura and it was enabled on day one, but after a little over a month I cannot stand it anymore. This thing is So. Damn. Buggy. So buggy that makes macOS a bigger chore to use than it already is, I do not want my window manager of all thing to be playing games with me:

  • This thing is completely unreliable. I cannot know for sure if clicking on a group or single window from will bring the windows back or not. Sometimes I have the animation of a “shadow” coming up, but the window stays still on SM. Sometimes I click the window on SM and nothing happens, so I click on the dock to bring it back.

  • When the windows does come back, it sometimes shows just outside the monitor, so I have to drag it back into position. Sometimes just one of the windows from the group comes back, the other is lost into ether, and the only way to conjure it back is to click its dock icon.

  • Finder tab management is a freaking nightmare. Say I have two finder windows with tabs open, side by side; I want to drag a tab from Finder Window A to Finder Window B. I grab the tab from A and what happens? SM puts the B windows away. But sometimes both windows stay put and I can drag the tab between them.

So yeah, I gave up. I was hyped by this feature, but the staggering amount of bugs for such basic behaviours makes Stage Manager a chore to use, turning windows management way more laborious than simply dealing with the dock. I turned it off and I don’t know if I’ll ever use that thing again.
