Shyness – Folks who were shy at a young age, or still are, who or what shook you out of that phase?

Context: There’s a girl in my program, she’s shy.

The facilitator was asking for volunteers to do a scenario. I was sitting behind this girl and I saw her meekly raise her hand to volunteer, but the facilitator didn’t see it and chose someone else.

I’m not interested in diagnosing or speculating. I want to know how to encourage and gently nudge. How do I encourage her to be more vocal, and advocate for herself? What can I do to be supportive?
