Serious question: Do you think the man had to be the provider? And do you deem a man less attractive if he can’t provide enough?

So lately I’ve been seeing quite a few social media posts/videos/clips/comments of men saying their wife/girlfriend left them because the man in the relationship either couldn’t provide enough, or another man could provide substantially more. With provide I mean material needs, not emotional ones.

My main takeaway from those posts is that women are far more interested in material needs than men are, and that men get significantly less attractive if they can’t provide these material needs to their wife/girlfriend. Now I know that social media isn’t reality, but even people I know (who are older and have way more experience with relationships) have hinted at this as well, even though nobody directly says it.

So my question is, do you think the man has to be the main provider? And if so, why?
