I’m a man and throughout my life, women were the only ones who could understand me and were truly kind to me, while other men friends of mine just weren’t nice to me when I respected them. I have always wondered what is that in women that makes them this kind and sweet to me?

Women are socialized to be accommodating, nice, and polite.

Men are not.

That doesn’t mean that all women are nice or that no men are, it just means that society expects it of women but not of men.

Further, toxic masculinity tends to conflate kindness and understanding as “female traits” and disdainful for men to demonstrate.

So not only are we socialized to be accommodating, but thanks to toxic masculinity, both men and women face potentially violent consequences for not fitting these socially acceptable gender roles.

Break the mold my dude.
