How come people think that male mental health is overlooked, when in fact, women are the ones left behind?

You are not on Reddit if you haven’t seen a post about “male mental health and how it affects men”.

Well first, no one cared about anyone’s mental health until very recently. In my observation, the first steps and conversations about mental health importance started only a decade ago.

Secondly, all I literally see is how we should help men, not women. They say that women “have support”, but it largely depends on a person. I know plenty of lonely women, including myself, who do not have anyone.

Then they say “men are afraid to speak up because of stigma”. Women can be stigmatized too, but we still make effort and go to the therapy. If you are ashamed, you don’t need to announce it to the whole world. I would also notice how male stand up comedians often bring their therapy and no one bats an eye.

That is not to mention that a lot of medications, including pills for ADHD, were developed having men in mind!

Finally, they like bringing up suicide rates as a proof of poor mental health. Totally forgetting that women attempt more. But hey, who cares about women.
