Freeform is great, but lacks some features that are basic to me:

Dark mode support

Image rotation, flipping, etc

The “perfect shapes” thing, just like notes

Tags and smart folders, just like notes

Free drawing on the Mac

In-app audio and video playing on the Mac, like it does in iOS/iPadOS

Handwritting recognition, just like notes
I think those things are not difficult or complex at all (maybe the dark mode thing, the have to figure out how to make everything visible on both modes), and adding them would make the experience of using the app so much better.
