Period blood can have various smells, from light metallic to a more pungent one, depending on the pH balance, healthy bacteria and more.
That doesn’t mean that the blood is “impure” or “dirty”. It just smells different because when it comes in contact with the air and microbiome of the vagina, it can react with the bacteria present in both.
So if your period blood smells, don’t worry; it’s proof that you’re human.
