Went to Anime Boston this weekend and felt appalled to see a female’s worth reduced to boobs and butts or as a figure that serves men or as a figure who needs rescuing from a heroic man, because she is too fragile to fend for herself. disrespectful, no?
ofc not all anime is like this, but it seems to be that those are the types of figures that were popularized (at least at this convention).
Going beyond anime, why do we continue to see* these types of character arches across many cultures and media? Bigger question: What can I, as an individual, do to resist this ideology?
It just feels so discouraging at times and wish I could do something more about it.
