° Dismantling period shame : even in this day and age, the topic of periods is often seen as a taboo subject resulting in many people suffering silently as a result.

° Keep track of your cycle : It would be amazing if all of us could immediately take time off to wear cozy pjs and eat a tub of ice cream when we get our periods; unfortunately, that’s not possible for many of us, especially as students.

Knowing when you’ll get your period can help you prepare well in advance for upcoming academic & extracurricular commitments. Given how stressful school can get, the last thing you want is a surprise period. You can track manually or use the free apps available on the app store.

° Use pain relief patches : If you’re someone who gets heavy periods with debilitating cramps, then taking painkillers becomes a necessity. But using pain relief heat patches works like wonders. They just stay there on your abdomen providing all the heat it needs to soothe down the pain. It personally help me soothe my pain when I’m cramping. It works like a charm!

° Keep warm & get cozy : When you’re on your period, you don’t want to be wearing tight clothing that adds to your discomfort. Put on a pair of sweatpants, a cozy sweater and bundle up near a cafe or library. Try to stay indoors if you’re low on energy.

° Eat comfort food : Although avoiding caffeine and sweets will help reduce cramps, the period cravings are no joke. Try not to beat yourself up if you’re consuming more junk food than the usual amount. Prepare healthier snacks in advance if you can.
