Is it an arbitrarily high standard to not date men who refer to women as girls? It seems everywhere but I find it demeaning. Children and teens are girls, not adult women.
AN ASIDE: I was seeing someone over a few weeks who suggested they were progressive in regard to gender norms but also referred to me frequently as a girl. These are not one and the same but it surprised me because he seemed like someone aware of social issues. He referred to himself as a boy once so perhaps it’s defensible but it seemed more tongue in cheek and I’m not about to speak of someone I’m dating as a boy.
