Can anyone educate me on henna, and whether some of the patterns have a meaning?

I come from a culture and religion that does not do henna on women. However, I am so drawn to henna and in particular colouring the upper parts of my hands fully (like in the full coverage design) with henna stain because I think it looks so beautiful and truly henna enhances the beauty of a woman’s features.

I worry however, that because I do not know the meaning of henna, it’s importance and so forth, I could be offensive in my wearing it. I don’t want to do it in a touristy way, but in a practise sort of way where it is something I do for beautification in a way? Idk if that makes sense?
