AirTags are not marketed as antitheft devices, but they are great for keeping track of things. I have a very expensive electric skateboard that I use for grocery shopping. It gets quite dirty, so when I go into a store, I have to leave it outside. I live in a small town, and it’s unlikely that someone would take it in the short time I’m in the store, so I don’t want to lock it up.
However, just in case, I have hidden an AirTag deep inside the board. If someone were to steal it, the thief would receive a “AirTag Found Moving With You” notification and would be able to make it beep. But, can a thief disable the AirTag from their phone without removing the battery?
I am concerned that a tech-savvy thief may know how to disable the AirTag from their phone, rendering it useless. I am wondering if anyone has any insights into whether this is possible or not. Can a thief disable the AirTag from their phone without physically removing the battery?
