I think most men lack emotional intelligence (mostly due to toxic masculinity and the media they consume) and instead of trying to feed their core need by investing in their relationship, marriage and family when hardships come, they search for easy distraction. The worst part is them refusing to see the truth of their own lacking and encouraging this behavior by talking about the ‘male’ nature that women can not understand. But the fact is that we do understand very well and women could go searching for distraction too and younger men also but chose not to, that’s why we are flabbergasted by the audacity. That’s why when a woman talk about her much older bf on Reddit, people advice her that he must be lacking somewhere for him needing a much more less experienced partner.That’s my opinion on the matter
Indeed women are always much more accustomed of reading romance, friendship stories, or talking about their feelings, which take a big part in growth of empathy and emotional intelligence. If media dedicated to men talked about those matter more seriously, we would see the surface of the world change. Some boy only see romance in porn and movies/manga/book that don’t pass the Bechdel test and where the feminine character is just good at being pretty and fighting. And all the friendships they see in media are between men
It’s like asking a monkey to act normal when all his life you only fed him with passive misogynistic content, he can’t. Yes there’s free will but we are all conditioned and media has a much more impact on our character that what we would like to admit
Also there’s a lot of cheating wife even if it’s less common, they are just more discrete, but that’s for an other Ted talk
