I’m amazed that Apple has yet to provide a true “offline mode” for Apple Maps given CarPlay’s dependence on this info. I understand that the app will cache your guidance route when you begin your travel – but then what? Presumably you’re going to need to get from your initial destination to someplace new. If that destination has no service – you’re stuck.
Google’s approach in Google Maps seems to work well. Is it a pipe dream for Apple to adopt something similar?
