Mansplaining?

I’m not always good at detecting the underlying signals in communication, which doesn’t help. There’s a pattern I see, often in tech domains, where I will ask a very specific question, “How do I do X using Y and Z?”, and I will get men who reply with “Here’s how I would solve this problem, “. I find it quite frustrating, since I’ve already thought about the solution he’s mentioned, and asked my specific question because I just need to know a particular remaining piece of information.

Is this mainsplaining? Or perhaps just poor communication skills? I’d love to have a name for this pattern, because it seems so pervasive & bothers me. Thanks.
