I don’t know where else to ask this, but I’ve seen a late increase of jokes really objectifying and undermining women, for example “tired of men looking at your boobs? then turn around, we like your ass too” and stuff like that … I wonder if there’s a subreddit or anywhere else online where women make fun of men and their bodies (as well as the degenerate societal standards and gender roles promoted by mainstream media) the same way they do. (I’m really curious about this)
I personally think people like these should either be re-educated on civility or the concept be broadened to women’s viewpoint as well. So that these people realise the true damage and disrespect of those words (and women get their fair share, I suppose). These destructive behaviours start from the cradle. Ideally, they shouldn’t be supported by neither side. Words are stronger than we credit them for.
PS (sort of). If men say they do that because they “love” women (as I’ve seen many, unbelievably, use that as an argument), then I feel that there’s something seriously wrong with their worldview. The difference between a man and a woman is hormonal, for survival purposes, nothing else. And it should have been well ingrained in everyone’s head by now, it doesn’t matter how thick the skull is. We should be treated with the same respect they treat themselves. Men and women are the same species, same importance, same dignity, same life choices – and both create the whole, supposedly each the better half. Besides, highly intellectual jobs are being dominated by women as well, as time passes by and more and more people go to college, furthering my point on equality on all branches of life. There are no glass ceilings. So… just respect. Just as women respect men – unfortunately, too naively it seems…
One more thing: I’m not generalising, however, the problem exists, and seems one-sided. Man or woman, please tell me your sincere take on this. Do not put me in the same bag as extremists, I’m legitimately trying to discuss the topic. It might seem as just a joke, but it entails a mindset, and that’s this subject’s main core. If anything, I needed to vent.
