Every year on March 8th, the world observes International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This day is important, because although roughly half of the global population is female, gender disparity still limits the potential of billions of women.

Besides being the right thing to do, closing the gender gap is a powerful tool in addressing many of the social, environmental, and economic challenges we face today. We are proud to shine a spotlight on a few special women who are making a powerful impact in the reforestation space. Although these women have different perspectives and experiences, they share a determination to make the world a better place.

When equipped with the tools and opportunities to grow into their full potential, women can move mountains.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, One Tree Planted has established the Women’s Empowerment Fund. With an ambitious goal of raising $500,000 during the month of March, the fund will support reforestation projects that have a focus on empowering women.

Beyond simply planting trees, these reforestation initiatives benefit women and their families, mitigate climate change, and improve biodiversity. Join us in seeding the Women’s Empowerment Fund to improve the lives of women, their children, the natural world around them, and the planet as a whole.
