This isn’t a declaration of war, and it won’t lead to one. Shooting it down does provide some protection, but not much. We saw it coming. We surely hid our secrets. China didn’t get anything that would put the country in danger. And the US gets to learn all about Chinese spy balloons.
It’s definitely a win for the US with very little risk.
