Why or why not does believing in gender equality and retaining chivalry (in a romantic context) entirely contradict?

This is a stupid question but I’ll try to answer.

Chivalry in a romantic context doesn’t make any sense. Chivalry is how to treat women, if you do it for a date or a stranger, it’s the same.

To help a trans man or woman with chivalry might contradict but who cares? Help anyone you can regardless of gender or ethnicity.
