Because the business model sucks.
They get a fixed income from all the subscriptions. Making a good show doesn’t add to their income, so it’s far easier to buy or rent rights to existing shows. They’re hoping to up the number of accounts by having a lot of exclusives and originals, but it’s just way harder to make a profitable show.
