When is blackface blackface?

When it’s intentional, I suppose.

I know women who wear black exfoliating masks, and those should not be considered “blackface” simply because it’s reminiscent of an obscure little performance style that serious people don’t do anymore outside of the occasional Caucasian societal contrarian.
