well partly because hydrogen is highly flammable and you would basically make them bombs on wheels in case of a crash.
the process of making hydrogen with help of natural gas is cheap but not green. if you want it green it gets REALLY expensive.
with everything kept in mind the process is also not efficient in the slightest
