What’s something you learned “embarrassingly later” in life?

When I was a kid and had done something bad I.e refused to eat dinner, shouted at my sister etc kids stuff. When my dad spoke to me about it he always said “A little birdie told me today you did .”

It wasn’t until I had a kid of my own and my dad said to him “A little birdie told me” that I realised the little birdie was always just other adults telling him what id done.

As I grew older, I stopped thinking it was an actual bird, but because he never said ‘Your mother has said’ I always wondered how he learnt it.
