Believe it or not, but Blair Witch Project was actually scary movie when it came out to theaters. Also I think the “homemade movie”-style worked because it was something new at the time. Which obviously went to overdrive and ruined multiple movies after that… so I don’t know if it has really aged well… but at least no blood/gore. So there’s your answer.
