There are many examples of it in US foreign policy. It was said to Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden and it is now being said to Russia. The veracity of that claim must always be enforced, though. In games where will to power are tested it can go all the way to serious blows. None of these claims are true to start with, but a show of force is used to convince the masses to accept the suggestion.
