What “Unwritten Rule” needs to go away?

I can think of a few … the one that bothers me the most is “kids/women/the help should be seen but not heard” followed quickly by “the customer is always right”. Basically any rule that exists just to marginalize and strip a certain type of people of dignity and respect needs to make a quick trip to the wastebasket.
