What propaganda does American media feed its citizens about the rest of the world that simply isn’t true?

Some Americans I have met are under the impression that every other country is tiny (which, for some odd reason, automatically means it’s bad for a lot of Americans) and not as advanced as the USA. They think the USA is the best country to live in. In reality, the USA is a pretty average country. There are other countries where the standard of living is much higher, and other countries which are far worse off.
