What is the medical community’s general view of Chiropractors? Pseudo science or not?

I have a friend who was into new age stuff, and she recommended her chiropractor. As far as it being a “massage” kind of thing, sure, it’s fine. But, there’s nothing medical about it. However, this particular guy explained to me about a “dowsing” technique he’d developed where, by wiggling his pinky, he could ask his higher self to ask my higher self about medical issues. After the session he said “Has anyone ever mentioned liver issues to you?” “No.” “You may want to ask your primary doctor.” A year or so later, I found out I had a liver issue. (And it was not enlarged or anything that he could have felt.)
