Integrated conflict management (ICM) is a strategy for managing and resolving conflicts that combines various elements from different types of conflict resolution approaches. This approach focuses on creating an environment of mutual understanding and respect, as well as resolving conflicts in a non-adversarial manner. ICM is made up of three primary components: negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. Negotiation involves working with the parties to identify their interests, develop options, and reach an agreement. Mediation involves a neutral third party facilitating the dialogue between the parties in order to help them reach a mutually beneficial agreement. Arbitration involves a third party making a binding decision on the outcome of the dispute. ICM has become increasingly popular in the workplace, as it allows parties to resolve disputes without having to resort to costly and time-consuming litigation.
