Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Victim Assistance Specialist in Kyiv, Ukraine. The duration of this post is 3 months.
DRC fulfills its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Victim Assistance Specialist will perform the following functions:
- Planning, Coordination, and Context Analysis
- Participate in the development of activity workplans and follow them accordingly. –
- Comply with field coordination directions of VA Team Leader and flag uncoordinated efforts to them.
- Actively participate in internal VA team meetings and share pertinent updates.
- Act as the main Focal Point for DRC HDP Humanitarian Demining, Non-Technical Survey, EORE, and other DRC sectors to ensure an integrated approach.
- Collaborate and coordinate with all relevant stakeholders, as well as technical leads to support adequate implementation, referrals, and coordination of DRC VA activities.
- Continuously analyse the context, including gaps in VA services and needs of EO victims.
- Attend, participate at, and debrief on all VA and VA-related local, district, or regional meetings as well as VA-related clusters when required.
- Implementation of Victim Assistance
- Lead the organisation of the VA Working Group, coordination roundtables and other such public events on the rights and needs of People with Disabilities (PwD), including EO victims.
- Together with VA Team Leader, oversee (external) consultants, developing VA Service Directory, executing needs assessment or other such services rendered.
- Lead the work with survivor organisations to analyse their needs and gaps as well as include them into VA programme designs.
- Coordinate (technical) inputs from VA stakeholders to feed into the designs of advocacy mass media campaigns and other types of communication of the rights and needs of PwD, including EO victims.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have:
- Master’s degree in Social Work or related social science discipline.
- Advanced interpersonal (ideally with experience in people management) communication and negotiation skills with public speaking capacity, excellent writing, and analytical skills.
- Advanced knowledge of conflict management.
- Positive ‘can-do’ attitude and resilience.
- Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian languages, with a proficient level of English.
- Proficiency knowledge of Microsoft Office package (with focus on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
