UN-Habitat will promote water for sustainable urban development at the UN 2023 Water Conference. The conference takes place at UN Headquarters in New York from 22-24 March 2023.
With 50 percent of the world’s population living in cities, cities, and urban areas face more pressure and challenges to meet demands for natural water resources. Unplanned cities and human settlements create more risks and expose populations to climate change, sea-level rise, or droughts. We should focus our attention on these areas that are environmentally fragile and support vulnerable people to have access to water sources. UN-Habitat believes that water should be at the heart of sustainable urban development. Partnerships working with water can help us achieve healthy, resilient, and equitable cities for all.
This page will share updates on UN-Habitat’s engagement at the UN Water Conference, list side events organized with key partners, including the Water Walk application in New York, and potential commitments to the Water Action Agenda.
