U.S. Americans, if you’ve ever refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance, what was the reaction from those around you?

In high school, I was getting sick of having to stand and do that shit all the time, so I just decided that I wouldn’t do it anymore. It got me sent to the principal’s office, which started a debate on whether or not I am obligated to do it in the first place. I sat up there until my first class was over because my teacher said he didn’t wanna see me in his class again, and then I just went about my day. Went back to his class the next morning, sat down like nothing happened, and never stood for the pledge ever again.
