To people who grew up with total segregation as the norm, what was the reasoning you eere told? Why care who dated who or the skin of someone sat on the bus if it doesn’t impact you?

I grew up in a very rural town in the middle of nowhere. There were no other kids my age so we had our own school bus. The driver would pick someone to sit on every day. If you were on the bus you were allowed to sit anywhere you wanted. If you sat somewhere you weren’t supposed to sit the driver would chase you off the bus and make you sit somewhere else.

The reasoning was that if you’re a good girl and don’t cause any trouble then your parents will let you sit where they want you to sit when they take you home.

The reason people are still racist is because we were raised by racist parents and caregivers.
