Job Description

To lead multiple capabilities linked to AWS Operations to ensure that the Standard Bank AWS cloud environment is compliant to our standards, principles, policies, and regulatory obligations in a manner that enables our business strategy. Lead a team of Cloud Engineers & MSP for AWS cloud operations.

The AWS cloud operations lead will also be the internal MSP and consulting partner for our application teams that have deployed workloads in cloud. The role includes partnering and engage proactively with AWS enterprise support and the AWS managed services team (accelerate model) and ensure that we are delivering exceptional service to our internal customers.

The role also involves collaborating and operating across several countries, business units and feature teams across the Standard Bank Group. The cloud lead will be required to proactively engage with peers (including the Platform and security leads), internal stakeholders and report to relevant forums & steerco.

Additionally, the lead must build relationships and manage delivery & SLAs with our 3rd party providers, including our cloud service providers. From a people perspective, the cloud lead must manage their team’s performance, coordinate and guide the team on delivery of the agreed strategic objectives and provide coaching & mentoring to their team. This will also include putting appropriate plans to attract and retain talent in their team.

Qualifications

Post Graduate Degree in Information Studies/Information Technology

Experience Required

Experience in working on AWS cloud platform engineering space. Having worked on AWS cloud environment where AWS managed services played a role will be advantageous.

Experience and knowledge of deploying and supporting workloads on AWS following the well architected framework.

8-10 years of solid Integration and IT background, consistently keeping up-to-date with advancements in the field. Proven track record to a broad spectrum of stakeholders including senior executives.

Knowledge of Agile and Lean frameworks, methods and practices and experience in being a catalyst for organisational change. Experience working with cross-functional teams fostering collaboration and team work. Good understanding of the Standard Bank IT environment

8-10 years experience in the full lifecycle design and development covering solution design, application design, development, testing and maintenance, network software, operating systems, multi-tier environments, desktop and workgroup software, middleware, server technology, fault tolerant environments, development tools
