What is the opportunity?
Position of Community Development Officers (2 positions). The position reports to the Community Development Coordinator and is based in Lilongwe, Malawi but requires frequent travel to remote locations.
The successful Community Development Officer will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
Implementing community development activities in Water Mission’s Safe Water Project Areas.
Implementing disaster response activities.
Carrying out assessments in a timely and efficient manner.
Conducting Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) education to safe water targeted communities.
Providing capacity building and support to Safe Water Committees (SWC) in the sustainable management of safe water projects.
Preparing project activity reports and timely updating of the Water Mission’s reporting database.
Collaborating with other WASH stakeholders in ensuring smooth implementation of WASH services to communities.
Participating in the development of project proposals for continuity of WASH services.
Monitoring and evaluation of Safe Water Projects to ensure the projects are effectively serving the communities.
Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.
What is required?
Bachelor’s degree in Community Development or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of work experience in WASH sector or Community Development.
Advanced skills with MS Office computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English, Chichewa and any indigenous languages).
Professing testimony of Christian conversion and belonging to a Christ Centered Church.
A clear calling to Christian service and integral mission.
High level of impeccable integrity, stewardship, and team player.
Excellent, analytical skills.
Excellent participatory facilitation skills.
Excellent team building and relationship skills.
Must have a valid driving license.
