Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in any Social Science
Have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Be computer proficient (MS Office)
Have excellent report writing skills.
Be mature, works well under pressure and able to multitask.
Have excellent negotiation and problem solving skills.
Minimum one year experience in Student Affairs Department or working
Knowledge and Skills
Excellent written communication skills
Analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate and synthesis information in reports
Excellent interpersonal and team working skills
Commitment to maintaining high standards of service provision
Excellent organizational ability
Ability to prioritize a busy workload and to work effectively, under pressure, without direct supervision
A thorough approach to work and attention to detail
A commitment to the quick assimilation of the requisite knowledge
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Responsible to the Student Affairs through the Dean
Responsible for welfare and the disciplinary charge of Umma University Students both during term-time and vacations for those residents who are students of the University.
Ensure the general wellbeing of student residents in the Hostel and to handle situations of emergency as and when these arise.
Promote social life, to exercise discipline and to effect spiritual care of the student.
Provide students with a wide range of opportunities for social interaction (especially at the start of each new session), and at the same time to maintain an environment that is conducive to study and to the general welfare of individual residents.
Enforce University and Residence Regulations relating to Moral care and discipline and to ensure compliance with University policy on all matters relating to student behavior.
Notify the Dean of Student of any missing students in accordance with the agreed procedures.
Observe and comply with all University policies and regulations.
Address grievances and complaints from students
Providing relevant information about the students whenever it is required.
In liaison with the health officer, offering appropriate first aid support.
Taking part in implementation fire drills, crime prevention and health & safety awareness initiatives.
Responding to on-site emergencies (burst pipes, broken windows, burglaries, locked out of rooms etc.)
Maintaining accurate records and writing reports to help to identify trends
To coordinate with the management for framing policies, rules and regulations.
In liaison with the security officer, ensure security of the students in and around the halls of residence.
Visit the students at any time in their rooms for their welfare and safety.
To supervise the maintenance of the hostel facilities provided and to plan for upgrading and maintenance of these facilities in the halls of residence.
Arbitrate and /or mediating between student disputes thus ensuring good order and behavior is maintained in the hostels.
Available for “on call – duty” whenever required, which provides emergency cover in the evenings and weekends.
To perform any other assignment by your Supervisor from time to time.
