U.S. Embassy and Consulates in South Africa Economic Specialist Jobs
Duties
The Economic Specialist provides research and analytical support on macroeconomics, finance, trade and investment issues. S/he is responsible for developing and maintaining high-level contacts across the spectrum of South African government economic policy makers, business leaders, and private economists.
The incumbent is responsible for producing annual, monthly, and spot economic reports. The incumbent supports VIP and USG official visits, coordinating logistics and meeting schedules. The incumbent also serves as back-up to other economic specialists supporting the section.
Trade and Investment Officer is the direct supervisor with additional oversight provided by the Deputy Economic Counselor and Economic Minister Counselor as needed. Annual assessments based on work requirements set out in HR documents will be the primary means of assessing the incumbent, supported by regular team meetings and feedback sessions throughout the rating period.
