Job Summary – Purpose

The position’s purpose is to monitor, build capacity of the CHVs/case workers and report on all project activities related to case management and service delivery as per the aspirations of the

USAID Tumikia Mtoto project, whose aim is to ensure improved access to health and social services to the OVC and their families in collaboration with public and private service providers.

You will implement the OVC Case Management approach to deliver quality and timely to ensure

graduation and transition to resilience for OVC and their families. You will be reporting to the

SJCC Project Coordinator, while working closely with other Project staff.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement OVC case management based on PEPFAR OVC case management standardized approaches and tools for identification, assessment, case plan development, service provision or referral, monitoring, graduation and case closure
  • Provide OVC interventions within the four OVC domains of Healthy, Safe, Schooled and Stable to ensure; timely service provision, graduation and transition to resilience for OVC and their families.
  • Support the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of all assigned project activities

    as outlined in the Approved Detailed Implementation Plan, while adhering to good practices principles and standards of the donor and GOK.
  • Provide technical support and monitor capacity building and technical support activities

    done by LCHVs, CHVs and Link Desk Persons to ensure effective and quality service provision.
  • Hold monthly review meetings with project volunteers to ensure they also reflect on project

    experiences for purposes of improving service delivery.
  • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
  • Collect, verify and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with

    other organization staff and volunteers to learn and make program decisions using the data.
  • Actively engage in identifying and documentation of project promising practices, case and human-interest stories, dissemination and use of relevant knowledge in the field.
  • Represent the organization and the project in meetings at sub county, ward and locational levels, working groups, and other events as requested, to support forging relations with the

    GOK, other stakeholders, the community and project beneficiaries.
  • Ensure community case workers (CCWs – project volunteers) complete required case management forms and ensure case filing system is improved and maintained.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all assigned project activities per donor and SJCC

    standards and established schedules.
  • Create community linkages for broader community engagement in case management.
  • Conduct joint support supervision with relevant GOK representatives to forge better working relationships and leverage.
  • Conduct regular home visits with the CHVs to ascertain service provision to the project beneficiaries as well as providing support to the volunteers.

    Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social work, Community Health, Community development, Development studies, Psychology and related disciplines from a credible institution.
  • Post graduate Certificates in project management, counselling psychology, child development and HIV management will have added advantage
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint, Ms Outlook, Internet)
  • 3 years’ demonstrated experience in implementation of OVC Programs funded by USAID or other international Donors
  • Extensive knowledge of generally accepted professional social and community work principles and practices

    Abilities/ Skills Required

  • Good oral, presentation and writing skills (English and Swahili)
  • Ability to work and deliver results under strict deadlines and minimum supervision.
  • Excellent decision-making skills
  • Proven commitment to adhering to set standard operating procedures of programming
  • High personal integrity and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team leader and player.
  • Able to work in an informal community setting
  • Good interpersonal and public relation skills and able to work with people from diverse background.
  • Strong coordination skills and team orientation.
  • Proven skills in community advocacy and adult training.
