U.S. Embassy Senior Protocol Assistant Jobs in Ethiopia
Summary:
The U.S. Mission, in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia, is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of USAU Protocol Assistant.
The work schedule for this position is:
Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Duties
The Protocol Specialist serves as the Mission’s authority on all aspects of the protocol, etiquette, precedence, and local customs and practices. The incumbent is the key advisor to the USAU Ambassador and Deputy Chief of Mission, initiating, managing, and facilitating relationships with ministerial and ambassadorial-level leaders of the African Union, Diplomatic Corps, International Organizations, and NGOs. Instructs Executive Office and other Mission offices on complex protocol procedures and etiquette, including proper forms of address and local customs and practices applicable to the 54 African Union member states. Manages all aspects of representational events, developing thoughtful and thorough guest lists through coordination with Mission stakeholders, including, as appropriate, collaboration with the Embassy Country Team. Maintains up-to-date Mission Contact database and is the primary point of contact for arranging Ambassador and DCM appointments and other representational outreach.
Requirements:
A minimum of four years of administrative, event planning, or public relations work experience is required including at least one year of which should have been in protocol and/or special events planning role in an embassy or other governmental setting.

A bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Business Management, Peace and Security Studies, Communication or Tourism, and Hospitality Management is required.
