Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or equivalent qualification from a recognized university;
Membership in good standing of a relevant professional body, where applicable;
Proficiency in Computer applications skills;
Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Responsibilities
Investigate the structure and evolution of the earth and its natural resources;
Plan programs for exploration of sites;
Survey and map/identify geologically promising sites;
Analyze geological data using specialist computer applications;
Ascertain extraction risks;
Advise management, technical and engineering staff on development of petroleum
reserves;
Ensure receipt, review & processing of applications for non-exclusive Exploration permits, drilling permits, production permits, field decommissioning permits and any other consent under the law relating to petroleum;
Plan scientific studies, visit field locations, and collect samples;
Conduct sample tests and checks;
Analyze and interpret the age, nature and components of rock, soil and other samples;
Generate geochemical models, and map/identify specific areas for research and analysis;
Provide geochemistry support for well operations; and
Assist in the development of exploration and production strategy.
